At Pet Resorts, we like for our guests to have some familiar things with them from home to make them as comfortable as possible while they stay with us BUT there is a limit as to the number of things that can fit with them in their private runs. We typically allow the following per dog or cat:
+ 2 toys per pet
+ A small blanket, towel or sheepskin mat (1 per pet)
+ Owner Provided Treats
+ Owner Provided Food
Things we do not allow:
+ Glass
+ Raw food
+ Beds with stuffing
+ Leashes, Harnesses and Collars (flea collars are an exception)
+ Very large, bed-sized blankets
+ Blankets or Towels with lots of holes in them (to prevent strangulation accidents)
+ Crates (they do not typically allow for enough room in the runs for the dogs or cats to be comfortable.)
+ Food and water bowls (Unless your pet has an allergy and needs a special type of bowl, we provide stainless steel food and water bowls, slow feeders and spill guards. No need to bring yours from home!)
+ Rawhides (we try our very best to provide a safe environment for our guests and rawhides are particularly dangerous treats due to choking hazards.)
+ Beds, blankets or pillows with stuffing.
We’re glad you asked! We provide the following:
+ 2 walks per day (dogs only)
+ A comfy cot for dogs to lounge and cozy kitty beds
+ Food and water bowls including slow feeders and spill guards, if needed.
+ Fresh water at all times
+ Report cards for every pet to let you know how they liked their stay.
+ Pet pictures for our first-time visitors.
+ Lots of love and attention from our trained staff.
Vaccinations:
At Pet Resorts, all of our dogs and cats are required to be up to date on their vaccinations. For dogs, we require they have Rabies, Parvo, Distemper and Bordetella vaccinations. For cats, we require they have Rabies, Feline Leukemia and FVRCP. We require that all vaccinations be administered by a licensed veterinarian. If these are first time vaccinations or if the vaccinations have lapsed more than a month, we require the newly administered vaccinations be given a minimum of 7 days prior to arrival. We will need proof of vaccinations from your veterinarian before we can allow your pet to be boarded, groomed or to visit daycare. It is best to fax them ahead of time to avoid any surprises at check-in. Have your veterinarian fax them to us at 1-866-785-9470 or e-mail them to info@petresortsofamerica.com.
Flea/Tick Treatment:
We require that your pet be up to date on a monthly flea/tick prevention. We require that your pet be free of parasites when they arrive for their stay.
Injured or Sick Animals:
Since we do not have a veterinarian on staff at Pet Resorts, we require that your pet not have any open wounds, sutures or stitches and the animal must be cleared by your veterinarian in writing following any medical treatment. We do not allow pregnant animals. We do not allow any animals with contagious diseases. We do not allow terminally ill animals to stay.
We do allow non-spayed and non-neutered pets to board with us. However, if your pet is not spayed or neutered, they will not be allowed to be part of group play activities unless they are under the age of 6 months. This rule applies to our daycare program as well. We do, however, offer other activities such as private play time, extra walks and private pool time for their enjoyment during their stay!
We do allow certain considered aggressive dog breeds (see list here) to come board with us, however, they are not allowed to participate in daycare or any other group activities.
Come by and visit! We love to give tours to prospective clients anytime during our normal business hours.
Of course! We offer several different size accommodations for your pets but we do require that dogs and cats be kept separate during their stay. We offer double and triple sized runs priced to accommodate two or three dogs respectively. If you have four or more dogs, depending on the size, we may be able to accommodate them in the same run with their siblings but please call us to be sure the size will still be comfortable for them. If your dogs are a particularly large breed, we may suggest a different option. We are always trying to keep the comfort of your animals foremost in our minds.
For cats, we offer kitty condos which can fit two medium sized cats but for larger groups, we offer kitty townhouses for three or more cats in a family. Our cattery is separated from our dog area for sound control and is even on a separate climate control system to help the kitties from smelling the dogs.
Our trained animal care specialists are here 7 days a week come rain, shine, sleet or snow to take great care of our guests. They are here from 6:45 a.m. until 6 p.m. After hours, our campus is equipped with 24-hour security surveillance for the safety of your pets. If your pet should need an extra potty break, our indoor/outdoor, private runs allow them to go out anytime they like! The only time the outdoor areas are closed is during bad storms, extreme heat or extreme cold to the point of which our heating and air system cannot keep up. The comfort and safety of your animals is our utmost concern.
We understand how difficult it can be to leave your four-legged family member to go out of town. Our team of trained animal care professionals are constantly checking on our guests to monitor their comfort level. We begin by asking you lots of questions at check-in to be sure we know as much about your dog or cat’s health, eating habits and any possible behavioral conditions. It helps us if you’re as honest as possible with us about your pet. Next, we conduct In-House Physicals for each pet to try to pick up on any pre-existing conditions. During their stay, we keep boarding charts for each dog and cat to monitor and record their eating and drinking habits, potty breaks, temperament, medication administration and attitude. With that being said, sometimes issues arise. We have a procedure we follow which begins by calling you, the owner, to make you aware of any problems. If we cannot reach you, we call the emergency contact person you provide at check-in. We discuss the issue at hand with you and decide together the best course of action. There are many things we can remedy in-house but in the rare event of a health emergency, we are happy to take your pet to their veterinarian for treatment however, we will only travel within a 25 mile radius from Pet Resorts to transport your pet to their vet of choice. If it is a holiday or after hours, we advise using the Pet Emergency Clinic in Nashville. If your pet becomes ill or if the state of your animal’s health requires professional attention, and we cannot reach you or your listed emergency contact, we use our best judgement to assess the situation and reserve the right to take your pet to be seen by a veterinarian without your consent. Should we feel the need to do so, all expenses incurred shall be paid by the Owner. In addition to veterinary expenses, the Owner will also be charged a $35.00/hour (thirty-five dollars per hour) transportation/attendance fee for one of our staff members to transport and assist your pet while at the vet. Please remember, we care very deeply for the animals in our care and want to make sure they receive medical attention as soon as possible if they become ill or injured.
Absolutely! If your dog has never been to our daycare program, we require they undergo an evaluation to make sure they will be happy playing in a group of other doggies. In order to attend daycare, your dog must be spayed or neutered if over the age of 6 months and cannot be on our restricted breed list. Our daycare program is open Mondays through Fridays. Our “play all day” boarding dogs go over to join in the group after breakfast and return to the comfort of their den just in time for supper and evening walks.
Yes, it is! We realize that most of our guests are house animals and need to maintain a high level of comfort while staying with us. All of our accommodations are heated and cooled even when the outside doors are open. We monitor the temperature in the boarding areas constantly and keep close watch on the weather to be sure we close the private run doors in the cases of extreme heat, cold or storms.
We love to offer group play to as many of our dogs as possible, however, we do not put any animals in group play without the authorization of the owner. If you would like to sign your dog up for group play, we require your dog to be spayed or neutered if over the age of 6 months. We do not allow certain considered aggressive dog breeds to be a part of group activities. We introduce dogs to group play by slowly adding them in one at a time to gage their comfort level. If anyone is disruptive or shows signs of aggressive behavior or dominance during group play, we remove that dog, make a note in their file and move them into private play or give them an extra walk instead.
Please do! We love to let you know how your pet is doing on their vacation while you are on yours. Call anytime during normal business hours or send us an e-mail to check and see what they’ve been up to.
Yes, check out time from boarding is 2:00 p.m. If you choose to pick up later than 2:00 p.m. you will incur a late check out fee of $18.00. You can drop off anytime during our normal business hours.
Our pool is open as early as possible in the Spring through late Fall. We base our opening dates each year on the weather. Check out all the fun we have at the pool here!
Yes, if over the age of 6 months.
We divide the dogs into play groups based on not only size but temperament. We constantly monitor play groups to be sure that the dogs that come to daycare that day are happy with their fellow canines. If not, we will try to re-assign appropriately sized dogs to the groups that best suit them but we will never put a Yorkie in with a group of Great Danes! If your dog is not happy in any group, we typically call to let you know so you can come to pick them up if desired.
Reservations are only required for the first visit which is always an evaluation of your dog. Once your dog has passed their evaluation, you are free to come to drop them off for daycare without a reservation whenever you like!
All dogs are different. First we take your dog into the play area by themselves so they can sniff around and get comfortable without other dogs around. Next, we introduce them to one new friend at a time. Our daycare dogs are all different breeds and temperaments so we usually choose a couple of personality types to bring in for one on one meetings. If your dog does well with all of them, then we introduce them to a play group. We watch closely all day long and make lots of notes to help our staff get to know your dog’s own unique personality. You’ll get a full report when you come for pick-up. If your dog is not enjoying their time at daycare, we’ll tell you that too. Just like us two-leggers, not all dogs enjoy being social.
Not a thing! We take your dog with their own leash and collar which we promptly take off once they are placed in the play area. We keep that in a personalized container for them until time to go home. Toys and fresh water are provided for your dog’s enjoyment all day long.
